BPPV: the importance of torsion and performing the manoeuvres accurately

Description

The importance of performing the canalith repositioning manoeuvre (CRM) and its effects on falls and gait will be described. The use of accelerometers, artificial intelligence and new technology to guide clinicians as they make the decision about which canal to treat and which CRM to utilize will be described based on the latest available evidence.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify vestibular pathways that generate torsional eye movements.
  • Describe the importance of performing the canalith repositioning maneuver, especially related to changes in gait and falls incidence.
  • Understand the use of accelerometers, artificial intelligence, and new technology that is being used to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of BPPV.
