How to install the HearSIM™ database on a PC

This video will guide you through the steps of installing the HearSIM™ software and setting up user accounts.

Before you begin

Before you begin, you will need the HearSIM™ USB stick, your Sera™ device, the provided USB cable, and the person installing the software will need to have administrator rights.

It is important that you do not connect the Sera™ device to the computer before installing the software. It is also recommended to close down all other programs before starting the installation.

Installation steps

1. Connect the HearSIM™ USB stick to a USB port on the PC.
2. Then navigate to file explorer and locate the USB drive. In this instance it’s the E-drive.
3. Now double click on 'HearSIM Setup' to start the installation. Follow the prompts on screen to complete the installation.

Setting up user accounts and profiles

Now you will need to set up the user accounts and profiles in the software. If the software is launched without first adding users, you will see a message like this in the software. Exit the software and add some users. You can do this by right clicking on the HearSIM™ icon and running as administrator.

After you have launched the HearSIM™ software, go to the menu, administration, and then accounts. Click on the ad account icon and start by typing in the windows login name. Select the user form the list and then select the user’s profile.

There are four user profiles available for assignment:

• Administrator
• Supervisor
• Editor
• Viewer

You can find more information about the user profiles in the HearSIM™ instructions for use manual. At least one administrator account is required in the software. Add as many users as required.

To delete a user, click here and select 'remove'.

After adding user accounts, you can now launch the software without needing to run it as administrator. The software will automatically detect the user logged into Windows and launch the software.

Connecting the Sera™ to a PC

After installing the HearSIM™ software and setting up the user accounts, you should connect your Sera™ device to the PC using the provided USB cable.

Ensure that the Sera™ is turned on and on the home screen before connecting to the PC. Launch the HearSIM™ software to confirm that the device drivers have been installed correctly and that you are ready to start using your Sera™ device together with your HearSIM™ software.

If you see the small Sera™ device at the bottom of the screen, you can be sure that the software was installed correctly, and you can start using them together.
