Description

Learn how to perform the Motor Control Test (MCT) using the Virtualis MotionVR.

This guide covers the key steps for conducting the test effectively and navigating the software.

In this video, you will learn:

  • Instructing patients to stand still during force plate movements.
  • Proper foot positioning for accurate results.
  • Using the Virtualis MotionVR headset and safety ring.
  • Navigating the software to start and monitor the test.
  • Observing real-time feedback during the test.

This is how to perform the Motor Control Test (MCT) on the Virtualis MotionVR. Instruct the patient by telling them the goal is to stand still during the assessment while the force plate moves.

Have the patient remove their shoes for a standardized somatosensory input. Center the patient's feet on the force plate. The front edge of the medial malleolus of each foot should be directly centered on the horizontal line of the force plate. The outer edge of the foot should be aligned with the anteroposterior lines.

When the feet are positioned correctly, close and lock the safety ring. Next, select setting options. We recommend keeping the default settings.

Once you launch and start the Motor Control Test module, the platform will calibrate. You are now ready to begin the assessment.

The assessment begins with three small backward force plate movements. The clinician can use the screen to observe real time feedback on the patient's performance.

Next, three medium backward force plate movements will occur. Following that, there will be three large backward force plate movements.

Now the force plate will move in the forward direction, starting with three small movements. Next, three medium forward force plate movements will happen. The assessment will conclude with three large forward force plate movements.

Once the assessment is complete and the force plate has returned to a neutral position, open the safety ring and assist the patient with stepping off the platform.

Before the results are displayed, you may need to manually set and validate reaction times for the numbers that are displayed in orange. When you are ready, proceed to view the results in the software.
