Reading

The Tone in Noise test is a method to identify the comparison of recruitment in the inner ear. When measuring a masked threshold, the sensitivity for level differences increases, making it easier to compare thresholds for damaged and non-damaged regions in the inner ear.

The test is suitable for sensorineural high frequency hearing losses, with thresholds close to normal in the low frequency range.

The Tone in Noise test is not an implemented test screen in the Equinox Suite, but is protocol based.

Required equipment

  • Equinox Evo
  • A patient response button
  • Headphones or insert phones

Protocol setup

Go to Menu | Setup | AC440 Setup and create a new protocol.

In this example, the output for both channels is set to phone right.
Figure 1: Both channels must be routed for the same ear side.

Figure 2: Channel 2 input must be set for NB and presentation must be simultaneous.

When the protocol is applied, the suite is ready for the test.
