Description

This document provides valuable guidance on the elements that should be considered and addressed to perform a reliable caloric assessment. In particular contraindication to testing, stimulus parameters, and considerations of eye movement recording techniques are discussed. Evaluation and calculation of canal paresis, directional preponderance and visual fixation are covered. Evidence and considerations for normative data for responses are also considered, with a focus on analysis, reporting of results and appropriate test modification. In summary, a useful text to establish a robust method of assessing peripheral vestibular using thermal caloric irrigation techniques.
